Thompson commits to Yellow Jackets

Kirk Thompson has gloved an NCAA Division 1 scholarship. The Prince George Spruce Kings 20-year-old goalie has committed to the American International College (AIC) where he'll suit up with the men's hockey Yellow Jackets.

The Prince George Spruce Kings 20-year-old goalie has committed to the American International College (AIC) where he'll suit up with the men's hockey Yellow Jackets. AIC is in Springfield, Massachusetts and plays in the Atlantic Hockey Division.

Thompson is in his third year with the Spruce Kings organization and is one of the top goaltenders in the B.C. Hockey League. The Surrey native is in the middle of his best BCHL season, having already recorded 20 wins, a 2.71 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. Thompson's three-year totals with the Spruce Kings include 112 games played with a 42-56-3-0 record with three shutouts and a career .904 save percentage.

Thompson is the sixth member of the Spruce Kings to secure an NCAA Division 1 scholarship. Other Kings with commitments are Mitch Eden, Coltyn Hansen, Jace Hennig, Kevin Guiltinan and Cameron Lawson.
