Texas Scramble goes to the kids

One stroke. That was the difference between the winners and the runners-up at the Kal Tire Texas Scramble, a weekend four-man best-ball tournament held at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club. And the winners were the youngest guys on the course.

One stroke. That was the difference between the winners and the runners-up at the Kal Tire Texas Scramble, a weekend four-man best-ball tournament held at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.

And the winners were the youngest guys on the course. Cole Shaw, Blair Anderson, Jon Strasdin and Dennis Forrest fired a two-round total of 112. That's an impressive 30-under-par. Tobin Senum, Geof Magrath, Doug Engstrom and Pete Sherba Jr. -- last year's champions -- finished at 29-under.

This was Senum's take on the victory by the young bucks.

"Those guys are good," he said. "They play every day and they practice, and 20 years ago that's what we did. Twenty years ago, we were in the same boat they are. Wait until they're 40 and we're 60 -- we'll take them."

Shaw is 22, Anderson 19, Strasdin 17 and Forrest 22. Senum and his teammates are all in their 40s.
