The UNBC Timberwolves will have to wait one week into the U Sports Canada West women's soccer season to try out their new digs at Masich Place Stadium.

The revamped city-owned facility, transformed by a year-long $4.375-million project to install a synthetic turf field, rubberized running track and new jumping and throwing areas for track and field, will be ready for T-wolves when they host the Regina Rams in their home opener on Sept. 14. Less than two days later, on Sept. 16, UNBC will face the Saskatchewan Huskies in a Sunday afternoon encounter.

The T-wolves play the first two games of their seventh Canada West season on the road. They start in Kelowna against the UBC-Okanagan Heat on Sept. 8, followed by a date with the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack on Sept. 9.

UNBC will take on the ever-tough UBC Thunderbirds at Masich on Sept. 28, with the Victoria Vikes taking the field the next day. The 14-game schedule for the UNBC women concludes at home with a Friday night game on Oct. 19 against the Trinity Western Spartans and a Saturday afternoon match on

Oct. 20 against Thompson Rivers.

Last year, under head coach Neil Sedgwick, the T-wolves made the playoffs for the first time, finishing sixth in the Pacific Division with a 3-7-4 record. That came on the heels of a 0-12-1 season in 2016.
