It was their first taste of CIS action but the UNBC Timberwolves men's basketball team showed they belonged by claiming the championship.
Both the men's and women's UNBC basketball teams were at the University of Waterloo for the Naismith Classic on the weekend where both teams earned berths in the final. The women couldn't best Concordia, losing 66-52 but the men from UNBC pulled off a 94-53 win over Quebec at Montreal University
Jose Araujo was named tournament MVP, scoring 21 points and seven rebounds in the final.
