CALGARY -- Forget the slow start. It wasn't happening this time.

The UNBC Northern Timberwolves will go for gold at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association men's basketball national championship. Friday night at SAIT Polytechnic, the Timberwolves played a magical first half against the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics and coasted to an 80-58 semifinal victory.

The game was a complete reversal of Thursday's opening-round contest against the Fanshawe College Falcons. In that one, the T-wolves were in a 16-point deficit at halftime and had to fight back for a 76-71 win.

"We talked (before the semifinal) about wanting to play a full 40 minutes," said UNBC head coach Mike Raimbault. "It's something that we've had our battles with the last little while. We came out, and defensively we were ready to go and we got off to a good start from there."

For gold, the T-wolves will face either the host SAIT Trojans or the Champlain College Cavaliers of Sainte-Lambert, Que.
