From Timbit to Timberwolf, Mikaela Cadorette has risen high in the soccer ranks.

The centre midfielder from Richmond has joined the pack to play university soccer at UNBC, the latest addition to the Timberwolves women's team roster for the 2017 season.

"When I started playing soccer at the age of four, playing Timbits, never in a million years did I expect to end up playing on a varsity team," said Cadorette, in a team release. "I am overjoyed to have committed to UNBC, and can't wait to start in the fall."

UNBC head coach Neil Sedgwick has been following Cadorette's progress playing in the B.C. Soccer Premier League in Vancouver for Fusion FC.

"Mikaela has demonstrated a great strength in her play and in her resolve to improve within the game," Sedgwick said. "She was really impressive at our prospect camp, taking information and implementing it. A left-footed centreback is always an asset within the team and I am looking forward to Mikaela's continued growth."

Cadorette, an aspiring doctor, plans to enroll in UNBC's Health Sciences Biomedical Studies program for her undergraduate degree. She made her decision to sign with the T-wolves after a campus visit.

"The campus was the first thing that caught my eye," she said. "Once I learned more about the school, I fell in love with the smaller class sizes, and the calm but professional atmosphere at the University.

"Getting this spot on the soccer team has shown me that if I want something, I am more than capable of achieving it. That goes for on the pitch, and in the classroom.

"I am a versatile player, and I have played everywhere from centreback to left striker," she said. "I hope to bring skill and physicality, along with my determination and loyalty to the team. Soccer is my passion. I'm ready to give it my all every time I step foot on the pitch, whether it be for a practice or game."

UNBC coach Neil Sedgwick is excited to welcome Cadorette to his roster. He anticipates her training with the Fusion FC program of the BC Soccer Premier League in Vancouver will serve her well in Prince George.
