Anthony Hokanson has joined the T-wolves' den.
UNBC announced Thursday the Grade 12 recruit from Kitsilano secondary school has signed a commitment letter to join the T-wolves men's basketball team for the 2015-16 season.
"I think I can be a good fit for the program and good off the bench, but I want to build up my role on the team and hopefully help take us to a CanWest championship," said Hokanson, in a team release.
"What really sold me on UNBC was the Sport Centre. You have an indoor track, soccer field, and three basketball courts, I haven't seen a gym facility that nice."
Hokanson, a six-foot-four guard/forward who played for the provincial U-14, U-15 and U-16 teams, visited the UNBC campus in September. Hokanson has been involved for three years in Basketball B.C's Centre of Performance elite training program.
"Anthony is a good athlete with size and the ability to shoot the basketball," said T-wolves head coach Todd Jordan. "We are very happy to have him join our program and are excited about his potential to have a major impact on our program in the future."
The T-wolves (7-7, third in the CanadaWest Explorer Division) host the fifth-place Grant MacEwan Griffins tonight and Saturday at the Northern Sport Centre. Game time tonight is 8 p.m. The UNBC men swept the Mount Royal Cougars is a two-game series last weekend in Calgary.
The UNBC women (2-12, sixth place) take on the Grant MacEwan (10-4, second place) starting at 6 p.m. The T-wolves are coming off a 63-56 win over Mount Royal last Saturday
