T-wolves chomp Bisons

The UNBC Timberswolves men's basketball team put the bite on the University of Manitoba Bisons in their first game of the season on Friday. The T-wolves spoiled the Bison's home opener in Winnipeg with a 77-71 victory.

The Timberwolves dominated the first half to take a 37-32 lead at the end of the second quarter.

The Bisons put their horns down and rallied in the third, outscoring the Timberwolves 19-12 to take a two-point lead.

But the Timberwolves sank 28 points in the final quarter to win.

Charles Barton lead scoring for the T-wolves with 20 points. Oliver Kouagnia had 15 points for UNBC and Jeff Chu sank 13 points.

Women trampled by Bisons

The University of Manitoba Bisons women's basketball team stampeded over the UNBC Timberwolves to win their home opener on Friday.

The T-wolves fell behind 22-18 in the first quarter and never took the lead in their first game of the season. They were down 40-31 by the end of the first half.

The Timberwolves outscored the Bisons in the third and fourth quarters, but it wasn't enough to even up the score.

UNBC's Emily Kaehn was the top scorer of the night with 22 points. Mercedes VanKoughnett also had a strong night for the T-wolves, putting up 18 points.

Both UNBC Timberwolves teams will take on the University of Winnipeg Wesmen teams tonight.
