Prince George's Gemma Hansen took part in her first race Monday at the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que. The canoe/kayaker was a member of the Team B.C. women's canoe that finished fifth overall in the C4 500m race. Hansen's teammates include Danielle Celine Caron of Nanaimo, Brook McLean of Kamloops and Yasmine Semeniuk of Maple Ridge.
After Monday the medal count for Team B.C. is at 65, behind Ontario (115), Quebec (72) and Alberta (70).
