CFL Picks, Week 10
After nine weeks in the CFL picks game:
Ted Clarke: 2-2 last week; 17-11 overall
Peter James: 1-3 last week; 22-10 overall
Sheri Lamb: 2-2 last week; 19-13 overall
Mark Nielsen: 1-3 last week; 19-9 overall
Ticats (4-4) at Lions (5-3)
Tonight, 7 p.m. TSN
Clarke: After a bad start, Henry Burris is back in the groove and the streaking Ticats are taking a run at first in the East, look out Leos. Pick: Hamilton by two.
James: The fur will fly at BC Place, but the Lions always step it up at home. Pick: Lions by nine.
Lamb: It this game was in Hamilton, the outcome would be different with the way the Lions are playing lately but since it'll be played in Vancouver... Pick: Lions by six.
Nielsen: This one is a real litmus test for both teams. Hamilton has looked good but against weak teams, while the Lions have looked flat, particularly on offence and could be ripe for another Ticats easy picking. Burris's arm will deliver the Tiger-Cats a win at B.C. Place. Pick: Ticats by 10.
Blue Bombers (1-7) at Roughriders (7-1)
Sunday, 1 p.m. TSN
Clarke: The Banjo Bowl spoils of victory go to the home team. Pick: Saskatchewan by 10.
James: All things being equal, the Roughriders usually have the Bombers number on Labour Day. This year Saskatchewan is simply the better team. Pick: Riders by 15.
Lamb: When the Blue Bombers head to Regina to play in the annual Labour Day Classic they usually fumble the ball badly. It's hard to imagine they could look any worse then they have this season, but don't bet on it. Pick: Roughriders by 21.
Nielsen: A breakout game for the Bombers in Regina against the league's top team? Not even Cinderella will buy that one. Pick: Roughriders by 11.
Eskimos (1-7) at Stampeders (6-2)
Monday, 2 p.m. TSN
Clarke: Stamps are 3-0 at home, Kevin Glenn's concussed cranium is at peace and Jon Cornish's war wound has healed. Good luck Edmonton. Pick: Calgary by 12.
James: Sweeping the Battle of Alberta back-to-back is never easy, but the Stampeders have a shot this year. Pick: Stamps by five.
Lamb: The Stampeders will take the first half of the annual home and home with their provincial rivals in a nasty game that'll add a new chapter to the Battle of Alberta. Pick: Stampeders by nine.
Nielsen: Even a second-string Stampeders can be a winning combination as shown against the Argonauts last week. The Eskimos will do well to keep pace. Pick: Stampeders by 10.
Alouettes (3-5) at Argonauts (5-3)
Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. TSN
Clarke: Four to eight weeks without Ricky Ray, Ouch. Argos are ripe for the plucking. Pick:
Montreal by three.
James: The Argonauts finish a rare three-game home stand with a win over a division rival. Pick Argos by six.
Lamb: Ricky Ray is gone for the next six weeks with an injury to his throwing shoulder and the Alouettes are desperate to get back into their old form. Upset of the week. Pick: Alouettes by three.
Nielsen: The Alouettes learned the value of never saying die last week and the Argos' Ricky Ray is out with an injury. However, the Argonauts will capitalize on early Als mistakes and carry a lead for the rest of the game - you read it here first. Pick: Argonauts by six.
