Third time was the charm for Lorelei St. Rose.
The 45 year old took first place in the women's Olympic distance of the Prince George Triathlon and Duathlon race Sunday at West Lake Provincial Park completing the three disciplines in two hours, 40 minutes and .01 seconds (2:40:01).
"It was a great day and it wasn't too hot and I put it all together," said St. Rose. "I just kind of put my head down and go as fast as I can."
St. Rose finished the 1.5 kilometre swim in 0:31:28, the 40 km bike was done in 1:16:37 and the 10 km run complete in 0:49:41.
"I was just able to put three pieces together and it was strong all the way around," said St. Rose.
It's the third consecutive year St. Rose has competed in the annual Prince George triathlon and she credits her discipline to get out and train on a consistent basis to improving her times each year.
Next up for St. Rose will be watching her sons in the Kids Triathlon at Fort George Park next Sunday, while her next event is Aug. 19 when she does the Olympic triathlon in the Okanagan.
"I love training and to see how far I can push myself. I like the personal challenge," said St. Rose.
Vanderhoof's Sarah Barr placed second with a time of 2:47:57 while Joanne Morgan was third in a time of 2:52:55. Barr competed in the 30-39 age group and Morgan was in the 50-plus.
The only other women to enter the Olympic distance was Kirsten Thomson, in the 30-39 category, who finished in 3:21:16.
