The Prince George Spruce Kings came onto the ice at full speed but soon ran out of steam and found themselves down 5-2 in a game against the Spruce Grove Saints Saturday at Kopar Memorial Arena.
First-period goals by Trent Ballentyne and Brock Cummings seemed to show the Kings were on top form, but the second period quickly changed things.
The 1,108 fans on hand quickly lost their smiles as the Saints netted two goals in the second period to tie the game up. The third period brought more of the same with the Saints finding the back of the net with three more unanswered goals to show their dominance as they finished the game.
The Saints improved to 9-11-1-0 and moved into eighth place in the BC Hockey League Interior Conference. The Spruce Kings (6-12-2-1) remained ninth in the Coastal Conference.
The Kings are on the road this week with games in Coquitlam on Saturday and Langley on Sunday.
