The Spruce Kings have signed Slovenian-born defenceman Ozbej Rep for the 2025-26 season.

The Prince George Spruce Kings announced Wednesday they’ve added offensive-minded Slovenian defenceman Ozbej Rep to their roster.

The six-foot-one, 183-pound Rep, who turns 20 on Sept. 23, played the past two seasons in the Swedish J20 Nationell League for Södertälje SK. In 87 games over those two seasons he collected 11 goals and 42 assists for 53 points.

“Ozbej is an elite level d-man who will be a huge piece for us this season,” said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes. “He's coming to us after playing in a great league in Sweden last season. His addition really helps to solidify our back end. He will be looked upon to play key minutes in all situations.”

Rep played for Slovenia in the past two IIHF World Under-20 Division 1-A championships and at the most recent tournament he had a goal and three points in five games.

“I’m very excited to join Prince George for the upcoming season,” said Rep, in a team release. “I want to thank all the staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I’ve heard so many great things about the organization and the work they do and I can’t wait to become a part of it.”

Rep, a native of Jesenice, Slovenia, will be in Prince George for the start of their BC Hockey League training camp in early September.
