It's never too early for the Prince George Spruce Kings to start preparing for a new season.
The Spruce Kings received a commitment from defenceman Danny Kiraly to join the B.C. Hockey League team for the 2013-14 season.
Colton Buffie, assistant coach with the Spruce Kings, said he was able to watch the product of Glendale, Arizona play in Minnesota at a U.S. national hockey camp.
"Danny was one of the premiere defencemen there," said Buffie. "His skating, puck-handling skill and overall ability put him a notch above the other players."
Kiraly will be entering his 19-year-old season when he joins the Spruce Kings. The six-foot-one, 180-pound Kiraly played the last two seasons for the Phoenix Junior Coyotes, collecting 12 goals and 35 points.
Kiraly is a self-described offensive-defenceman, due to the fact he began his hockey career at forward before switching to the back end two years ago.
The defender is the second new recruit to sign with the Spruce Kings for the 2013-14 season, following forward Braiden Epp.
More recruits are likely to be found April 12-14 when the Spruce Kings hold their annual spring prospects camp at the Coliseum.
