If you still plan on buying a ticket for a seat to watch Prince George Spruce Kings take on the Trail Smoke Eaters tonight at Kopar Memorial Arena, you might be out of luck.
It’ll be standing room only for Drop The Gloves and Sock It To ‘Em night with a sellout crowd expected to pack into the old barn tonight (7 p.m.).
Fans are being asked to bring donations of warm winter clothing (toques, gloves, socks and scarves wrapped in plastic bags) to the rink, to be thrown over the glass onto the ice after the Spruce Kings score their first goal. The clothing will be distributed to less fortunate people by the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Food donations will also be accepted at the door.
“Tonight, we expect the largest donation to St. Vincent de Paul in the Spruce Kings history, we are excited to have a record attendance for tonight’s game, and can’t wait to sell the remaining standing room tickets.” said Kyle Anderson, the Spruce Kings business operations manager.
The previous record for tickets sold for the Drop The Gloves promotion was 1,335..
Tickets are still available at the Spruce Kings office at the rink today or you can call 250-564-1747 or go online at www.sprucekings.bc.ca. Sponsored by Interior Savings Credit Union, youth tickets are $5 each, ehile adults get in for $10.
If you can’t make it to the rink the game will be aired live on 99.3 FM, Rewind Radio, with Jack Clark behind the mic for the play-by-play broadcast.
The Spruce Kings (8-14-3-0) currently rank eighth in the BCHL Interior Conference standings, seven points behind the fifth-place Smoke Eaters (10-10-6-0). The same teams meet again Saturday (6 p.m.).
