The Prince George Spruce Kings are looking for billet homes for their hockey players.
With training camp set to begin Aug. 25, the community-owned B.C. Hockey League team is in need of more billet families willing to provide room and board for the players, aged 16 to 20, during the 2016-17 season.
The players will be attending high school, college or university while they are playing with the Spruce Kings. Some have already locked up college scholarships to continue their hockey careers after they graduate the junior ranks and they serve as role models for families with young children who have similar ambitions.
The billet parents are required to provide a room for each player and will prepare meals. Players are expected to provide their own personal care items, cell phones and in most cases will have their own vehicles. The team pays billet families monthly to cover their food and lodging bills.
