Spruce Kings' losing skid hits five games with 6-3 loss to Centennials

Rematch set for Saturday at 6 p.m. at Kopar; Spruce Kings Alumni Game starts at 2:45 p.m.

The Merritt Centennials extended the misery for the win-starved Prince George Spruce Kings, handing the Kings 6-3 loss in front of a crowd of 1,435 at Kopar Memorial Arena.

Luke Pfoh, Dylan Wegner, Dylan Lariviere, Jack Zilioto, Kiernan Poulin and Easton Ryan (into an empty net), score for the Cents.

Scott Cousins picked up two goals and Linden Makow fired a single to stoke the Spruce Kings’ offence.

Karlis Mezsargs made 26 saves to pick up the win net for Merritt.

It was the fifth consecutive loss for the Spruce Kings.

The Cents improved their sixth-place BCHL Interior Conference record to 20-24-4-1, while the eighth-place Kings dropped to 14-32-3-0.

Merritt and Prince George will meet again Saturday (6 p.m.) at Kopar.

That game will be preceded at 2:45 p.m. by the Spruce Kings Alumni Game.

A ticket purchased for either game will be good for admission for both games.
