Coltyn Hansen and the Prince George Spruce Kings return home after two weekends on the road for a pair of games beginning tonight.
Hansen leads the Spruce Kings (5-4-1-1) with three goals and 11 points and the team will be looking to him to provide offence as they try to nip a two-game losing skid when the Powell River Kings (4-6-0-2) visit the Coliseum tonight, 7 p.m.
Both Kings teams sit third in their respective B.C. Hockey League divisions with Prince George in the Mainland and Powell River in the Coastal.
The Spruce Kings are coming off two consecutive losses to division rival the Langley Rivermen as Austin Azurdia scorched Prince George, notching four goals (two in each game) and an assist and was named BCHL player of the week for his efforts. The four-goal weekend gave the Wenatchee, Washington product six goals this season.
Prince George will be counting on 20-year-old goalie Kirk Thompson to keep the Kings leading scorers, Luke Nogard (eight points), J.P. Villeneuve (seven points) and Evan Richardson (seven points), at bay.
In 10 appearances this season Thompson has been solid in the Spruce Kings net, posting five wins and a 2.57 goals against average and .911 save percentage.
Saturday the Spruce Kings welcome the Surrey Eagles (5-4-0-1) to the Coliseum, 7 p.m. A week ago Prince George posted a 4-1 win in Surrey.
