Spruce Kings fall to Vees on the road

The Penticton Vees scored two goals in each of the second and third periods to defeat the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings 5-2 Friday night. The Vees victory was their 10th straight of the season as they improve to 10-1 and remain atop the B.C.

The Penticton Vees scored two goals in each of the second and third periods to defeat the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings 5-2 Friday night.

The Vees victory was their 10th straight of the season as they improve to 10-1 and remain atop the B.C. Hockey League's Interior Division.

It was the Kings second-straight loss, after they were edged 4-3 in Merritt Thursday.

Prince George falls to 3-8-0-1 and remains in fifth place in the Mainland Division.

Trailing 1-0, Kings forward Braiden Epp tied the game at 1-1 early in the second period.

Bryan Basilico scored the Kings second goal at the 17:42 mark of the frame on the power play to knot the game at 2-2.

Easton Brodzinski scored with two seconds left in the period to give the Vees a narrow 3-2 lead.

Benjamin Brar and Brodzinski both tallied in the third period.

The Vees outshot the Kings 36-22.

Prince George travels to West Kelowna tonight.
