Prince George Spruce Kings winger Scott Cousins scores on Penticton Vees goalie Andrew Ness in the second period to tie Wednesday's BCHL game in Penticton 1-1. The Vees went on to win 5-2.

The Prince George Spruce Kings knew it was going to be tough to take points away from the Penticton Vees heading into Wednesday’s BCHL game at South Okanagan Events Centre.

The Vees hadn’t lost on home ice since March 31, 2022, and that streak remains intact after they defeated the Kings 5-2.

Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick James Fisher led the Vees with his first three-goal game since joining Penticton in the off-season from the USHL. The 19-year-old from Massachusetts completed his hat trick in the third period after Kings defenceman Max Ranstrom had made it a one-goal game on a Prince George power play.

Leon Mattiasson and Thomas Pichette also scored for the Vees, who improved to 4-1-1-0-0 atop the Interior Division. Scott Cousins had the other goal for Prince George.

Andrew Ness made 17 saves in goal for the Vees, who outshot the Kings 43-19. Marcus Ouellet took the loss.

The Spruce Kings (1-3-1-0-0) will finish off their three-game road trip Friday in West Kelowna.
