The Kings fell 4-2 Saturday to the hometown West Kelowna Warriors.

The Kings responded with goals from Kazumo Sasaki and JR Perdion, but it wasn’t enough. Johannes Lekkeberg locked up the Warriors’ win with only goal of the third period.

Felix Caron and Jackson Krykostas each picked up three assists.

The loss dropped the Spruce Kings’ record to 14-31-3-0. West Kelowna (29-10-10-0) remained second in the conference, nine points back of the Penticton Vees.

Charlie Zolin took the loss in net for the Kings, stopping 25 of 29 shots, while  West Kelowna goalie Matthew DellaRusso stopped 23 of 25 shots he faced.

The Spruce Kings opened their trip with a 5-2 loss Friday to the Smoke Eaters in Trail.

The Kings last won Feb. 3 when they scored 4-2 home ice triumph over the Cranbrook Bucks.

Prince George has six games left in the regular season. That includes a weekend doubleheader at Kopar Memorial Arena this Friday and Saturday against the Merritt Centenninals.

The March 16 game will be preceded by the Spruce Kings’ alumni game at 2:45 p.m. at Kopar.

All eight teams in the Interior Conference make the playoffs and the Kings will open a best-of-seven series April 5 in Penticton against the first-place Vees.

Tickets are available at the Spruce Kings office at Kopar Memorial Arena.

The Vernon Vipers will be in Prince George March 22-23.
