Trevor Sprague will play a role in the formation of BC Hockey's Under-16 provincial team.

Sprague, a local resident who is head coach of the major midget Cariboo Cougars, is one of the bench bosses for the U-16 provincial selection camp, July 18-22 in Salmon Arm. He'll lead Team Bruins at the camp, while Max Young will guide Team Canucks.

Based on their play at the recent U-16 BC Cup tournament, a total of 36 players received invitations to the camp. The top performers in Salmon Arm will earn spots on Team BC for the Western Canada Challenge Cup, Nov. 1-4 in Calgary.

Quesnel forward Jesse Roach is the only northern BC player who made the cut for the provincial camp. Roach, six-foot-three and 160 pounds, will skate for the Canucks.

BC Hockey announced the coaching staffs and team rosters on Thursday.

Prince George product Brett Connolly, now a member of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, is a graduate of the U-16 provincial team. Brent Seabrook of the Chicago Blackhawks also played for Team BC when he was in the U-16 age group.
