Trevor Sprague wanted two years. He got one.
Sprague has received unanimous approval from B.C. Hockey to return as head coach of the Cariboo Cougars next Major Midget League season. With the possibility of the Cougars hosting the Telus Cup national midget championship tournament in the spring of 2012, Sprague had requested a two-year extension but was told that wasn't possible.
"Policy states that they can only do a year and they're going to stick with that policy," said Sprague, who guided the 2009-10 Cats to second-place finishes in the regular season and playoffs and was named MML coach of the year. "For me, if we get the Telus Cup, I just wanted to make sure I was going to be the head coach for that as well."
