It was quite the week for Jesse Gabrielle.
The 18-year-old Prince George Cougars forward tallied five goals and chipped in two assists in four games last week to lead the Cats to a 3-1-0 record. For his efforts, he was named the Western Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 25.
Gabrielle's nose for the net began on Oct. 20 at home against the Calgary Hitmen when he scored a pair of goals in Prince George's 5-2 win and earned third-star honours.
He duplicated the effort the following night with two more goals - both of them shorthanded - in a 5-0 shutout against the Hitmen.
The six-foot, 200-pound forward added an assist in the Cougars' 5-2 loss to the Kelowna Rockets Friday and netted a goal and an assist in the Cats' 3-1 win against the Vancouver Giants on Sunday.
So far Gabrielle has notched 11 points (nine goals and two assists) in 11 games to lead the Cougars in scoring. He also has a plus-4 rating.
Prince George has a 6-5 record and sits fourth overall in the WHL's Western Conference. The Cougars are in the midst of a four-game road trip. They take on the Kamloops Blazers Wednesday and wrap things up Friday in Kelowna.
