Sports Hall of Fame adds to roster

Eight people who have contributed to the city's sports legacy are being honoured as the latest inductees into the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

Eight people who have contributed to the city's sports legacy are being honoured as the latest inductees into the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

The 2012-2013 class and their respective categories are:

n Athlete: Gibby Chasse, powerlifting; Ed Day, cross-country skiing

Professional athlete: Jason LaBarbera, hockey

Coach/builder: Dave Wood, cross-country skiing; Pat Harris, wheelchair basketball

Builder/administrator: Glen Scott, lacrosse; Johan Pettersen, cross-country skiing

Pioneer athlete: Bjorger Pettersen, cross-country skiing

The P.G. hall of fame committee had 33 nominations to choose from, as submitted by the public.

The banquet honouring the newest inductees - as well as a number of youth athletes - will be held at the Hart Community Centre on March 29.

This year's crop will join the previous 67 inductees in the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame, which was formed in 1996.
