Some kind of summer for Nelson

But now that school is back in session and he's trying to keep up his honour-roll academic status, Nelson knows there are times when revving and racing have to take a back seat to reading and writing. That's the law in the Nelson family and Landon is happy to abide by the house rules.

"I have to have good grades to ride, that's the deal, if I don't get good grades I don't ride," said Nelson, a Grade 7 student at Vanway elementary school.

Nelson's marks are in good standing and he'll get the chance to race on his home track this weekend when Blackwater Motorcycle Park hosts IMA races Saturday and Sunday. About 150 riders are expected, with races beginning at 10 a.m. both days.
