Soccer season ends this weekend for both UNBC teams.

Coming off their first CIS Canada West Conference win of the season Sunday at the University of Regina, the Timberwolves women's team (1-8-3) will be Kelowna to face the UBC-Okanagan Heat (1-7-4) today at noon and they'll wrap up the season at the same time Sunday.

The teams last met Sept. 11 in Prince George, a game which ended in a 1-1 tie. The Heat tied it in the 88th minute.

Today's game will be webcast on CanadaWest.TV.

Sunday's game will mark the end of the university soccer careers of four graduating T-wolves --Tanya Grob, Jo Ribeiro and twins Sidney and Jordan Hall.

The UNBC men (1-9-0) are in Kamloops for games today and Sunday (2:15 p.m., both days) against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack (2-6-2). Both WolfPack wins came at the expense of the T-wolves. They beat UNBC 1-0 on Oct. 10 and 3-0 the following day at North Cariboo Field.

All of the UNBC men's team players are eligible to return next season.

Meanwhile in Edmonton, the UNBC Timberwolves men's basketball team continued their preseason Friday at the Golden Bears Invitational against the host Alberta Golden Bears. Today at 5 p.m., the T-wolves take on Lethbridge at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton.

The UNBC men took a 3-3 preseason record onto the court Friday night. They beat the University of Guelph Gryphons, Red Deer College Kings, and King's University College Eagles, having lost to the Memorial University Sea-Hawks, University of Ottawa Gee-Gees, and Montana State University Northern Lights.

The UNBC men and women open the CIS season at home Nov. 6-7 against the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre at 8 p.m. Last year, the male T-wolves made school history when they became the first UNBC varsity sports team to qualify for the Canada West playoffs.
