Soccer delayed one week

Wet fields and a cool start to spring have forced the Prince George Youth Soccer Association to issue a yellow card on the start of the season.

Wet fields and a cool start to spring have forced the Prince George Youth Soccer Association to issue a yellow card on the start of the season.

The outdoor season traditionally starts the first week of May but the soggy conditions at Rotary Fields have forced league organizers to put that off a week until Saturday, May 11. As a result, the season will be extended by one week to June 27. The league will stick to its original schedule for the Active Start Soccer Fest, June 22-23.

The PGYSA is also looking for coaches, and this week is the perfect time to get involved. The league will be hosting a coaches' orientation session this Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at Duchess Park secondary school. BC Soccer coaching clinics are set for May 10 (Active Start) and May 25 (FUNdamentals).
