The Cariboo Cougars will be heavily-represented at the B.C. Hockey Major Midget League's all-star game.

Six Cougars players have earned spots in the showcase contest. They are: (Team Red) goaltender Nathan Warren; defenceman Stephen Penner; and forward Braiden Epp; and (Team White) defenceman Nick Headrick; and forwards Liam Blackburn and Ryan Forbes. Rosters were released on Wednesday. The game itself will be played Jan. 18 in Langley.

The Cougars, with a record of 18-6-0, hold down third place in the 11-team MML. They trail the league-leading Vancouver Northwest Giants (20-2-2) and the Okanagan Rockets (18-2-4). The Giants and Rockets will also send six players each to the all-star game.

Cougars head coach Trevor Sprague said Warren and company are deserving of their all-star nods and can thank their other teammates for their places in the spotlight.

"A lot of their success comes from the team success," Sprague said. "That's why they're representing our team in that game and hopefully they're proud that they're there."

Warren, 17, was an absolute slam-dunk choice for the all-star game. This season, he has a league-leading six shutouts and a goals-against average of 2.53.
