Inspired by Clayton Sheen's King of the Cage victory the night before, fighters from the Murray Sholty Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts team were dominant Saturday at the Tiger Balm International fight card in North Vancouver.
Sheen needed just one minute 10 seconds to score a submission victory over Mike Davis of Edson, Alta., in a 135-pound Canadian flyweight championship bout. Sheen then travelled across the Rockies for the Tiger Balm event Saturday and claimed the advanced 154-pound Brazilian jiu jitsu and 160-pound submission grappling titles.
Also at the Tiger Balm event, Murray Sholty heavyweight Adriano Bernardo won the advanced heavyweight titles in Brazilian jiu jitsu and submission grappling, while Darrin Schritt placed first in the advanced 167-pound Brazilian jiu jitsu class and was second in the 173-pound submission grappling competition.
Hank Lukyn was crowned champion in the 200-pound-and-under Sanshou kickboxing event.
In other results for Murray Sholty fighters, Sam Fredricks finished second in the grappling intermediate heavyweight division; Brandon Budd was second in the Brazilian jiu jitsu open intermediate division; Shawn Storey posted a pair of third-place finishes as an intermediate in the 154-pound jiu jitsu and 147-pound grappling events; and Mike Green placed fourth in the advanced 154-pound jiu jitsu competition.
