Prince George high school football was revived after a 33-year absence in May 2004 when the first P.G. Bowl was played.
Every year since then teams from Prince George, Vanderhoof and Quesnel (until 2016) have tried to claim the coveted prize, now known as the Matt Pearce Memorial Trophy.
In 2009, the Prince George High School Football Association adopted American football rules and joined the B.C. Secondary Schools Football Association to form the North Conference double-A varsity league.
