Senior Condors place fifth at provincials

The Duchess Park senior girls basketball squad wrapped up their season with a fifth-place finish at the B.C. High School Girls double-A championship in Langley on the weekend. The Condors defeated Seycove 77-67 on Saturday for the top-five finish.

Duchess Park went into the tournament as the top-ranked team, but were edged 63-61 in a quarter-final by Notre Dame.

They rebounded with a 77-44 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas to advance to the game for fifth and sixth place.

Immaculata from Kelowna won the double-A title with a 68-55 victory over Vancouver's Little Flower Academy.

At the single-A High School Provincial senior girls championship in Lumby, the Cedars Christian Eagles finished ninth.

They lost to Credo Christian in their opening game, then rattled off three-straight wins against Nakusp, Pemberton and Agassiz for the top-10 placing.

The senior boys high school championships begin Wednesday in Langley.

The 14th-ranked Prince George Senior Secondary Polars are competing in the quadruple-A championship and tip off against third-ranked Kelowna on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m.
