Scouts take an interest in Chilko

With the eyes of the B.C. high school football world watching him, Regan Chilko was at his opportunistic best.

Called into service to play in the provincial all-star Senior Bowl in Surrey over spring break, Chilko left an indelible mark as a gamebreaker.

Lined up at safety for Team East, the 18-year-old College Heights secondary student was sent to the field for four defensive series and made three interceptions. He was the obvious choice as defensive player of the game, quite a performance for a guy with only two seasons of football behind him.

"One was thrown right at me, so if I didn't catch it, it would have been quite embarrassing," said Chilko. "The other two I had to run quite a far way to catch them. The last one I caught with one arm pinched against my helmet, right on the sideline by all the coaches and (junior and university team) scouts. One of our guys jumped up and missed the ball and the receiver was going to catch it and I got in between and caught it with one arm."
