The 2014 Scotties BC Women's Curling Championship, set for Prince George in January, will be a test event for the Canada Winter Games.
The top women's curlers in B.C. will throw stones at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club from Jan. 6-12. Curling will be one of three events to run the full two weeks of the Canada Winter Games from Feb. 13 to March 1, 2015.
The curling club will benefit from the deal between the Canada Winter Games and Curl B.C. through enhancements to the seating area for the Scotties. The Scotties will also provide training and experience for volunteers prior to the Canada Winter Games.
"Test events are a great way for the 2015 Canada Winter Games, our volunteers and local sports organizations to continue to prepare for the largest multi-sport and cultural event ever to be hosted in northern BC," said Stuart Ballantyne, CEO of the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
