The Rush struck gold on the weekend.
The Rush, an 18-and-over team that represents the Prince George Ringette Association, skated to the B division title at the Richmond Ringette Classic. In Sunday's final game, the club - sponsored by Ray's Stucco - blanked Burnaby 4-0. Overall, the Rush went undefeated in six games.
"For a team that has no one to play in the north, it didn't show," said coach Maddie Crandell. "They just got better and better as the weekend progressed. The team has talent and it showed over the weekend - so proud of this team."
In the six games, Rush goalie Megan Spooner allowed just seven goals.
The Rush started the tournament with a 4-1 win against Surrey and then downed Vancouver 10-2. Next came a 2-1 decision against Fraser Valley and an 8-2 victory against Port Coquitlam. In the playoff semifinal, the Rush beat Kelowna 5-1.
"This tournament win was a real team effort," Crandell said.
Other members of the Rush are Rory Bird, Aimee Qualizza, Aimee Benoit, Justine Lamothe, Brooklyn Howard, Layne Ongman, Cortney Thompson, Tara Jones, Stephaney Thompson, Caitlin Zacharias, Saynia Pickering and Jayden Bester.
