The Prince George Open Rush capped off a successful ringette season last weekend by capturing the gold medal at the B provincial tournament in Surrey.
In addition to winning the gold medal the Rush, sponsored by Ray's Stucco, were also awarded the fair play award.
The Rush edged Surrey 7-6 in the final Sunday after defeating Fraser Valley 5-2 in the morning semifinal. In the round robin the Rush beat Delta 6-4, Vancouver 9-8 and wrapped up with two wins over Burnaby 9-1 and 11-0.
Rory Bird and Layne Ongman led the Rush in scoring while Lisa Matzelle was solid in the net.
The Rush only get together during the season to play in tournaments where they won 16 of 17 games and earned two gold and one silver medal during the season.
Other members of the Rush were: Stephanie Crandell, Justine Lamothe, Nicole Leblanc, Aimee Qualizza, Kirsten Tooms, Nicole Crandell, Stephaney Thompson, Whitney Wilson and Caitlin Zacharias.
