Katlyn Roberts was going to put her basketball career on pause.
Roberts, a dynamic shooting guard for the D.P. Todd Trojans during her high school days, had no real intention of playing at the post-secondary level this coming season. But Dave Waknuk, head coach of the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves, kept bombarding her with e-mails, asking her to join his program.
Finally, Roberts gave in to the pressure. She attended an identification camp at GPRC and that was enough to convince her she wasn't ready to walk away from the game.
"I love basketball and I didn't want to give it up," said Roberts, who graduated from D.P. Todd in June and will now attend GPRC on an athletic scholarship. "All the girls are really nice there. I've been up there a couple times for summer sessions."
