On short notice, the Prince George Lomak Knights are back on the road.

The peewee double-A baseball club is in Kelowna for a four-game exhibition set. The 11- and 12-year-old Knights will step to the plate for a doubleheader against Kelowna today and will play back-to-back games against Rutland on Sunday.

The invitation to travel south arrived on Wednesday. The Knights had just returned from Kelowna, where they competed in the Valley of Champions tournament last weekend. In that event, they started out with a pair of losses but rebounded with two victories. The setbacks came against North Delta (9-8) and Kelowna (5-0) and the wins were at the expense of Richmond (3-2) and Surrey (6-2).

Kelowna went on to win the peewee double-A title in the Valley of Champions tournament and Rutland lost in the semifinal round so the Knights will be tested this weekend.

The team, 13-8 on the season, is preparing for provincials, Aug. 2-6 in Chilliwack.
