Former radio/TV sportscaster moved to Prince George in 2019
Spruce Kings hire Ethan Ready
The Prince George Spruce Kings have hired former TV/radio sportscaster Ethan Ready as their new play-by-play voice.

Local sportscaster Ethan Ready is the new play-by-play voice of the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The B.C. Hockey League club announced Monday it has hired the Woodstock, Ont., native as director of communications and broadcasting. Ready, a graduate of the journalism program at Mohawk College in Hamilton, moved to Prince George in February 2019 to work for Vista Radio and made the switch to television as a news reporter for CKPG News, eventually switching to the sports anchor position.

He is also the broadcaster of the Prince George Kodiaks junior football team, which joined the B.C. Football Conference as an expansion team this year. He also worked for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL and as a freelancer for the league before he moved to Prince George.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to work for a sports organization that has a rich history and deep roots within the community,” said Ready, in a Spruce Kings team release.

“Through my experiences covering the Spruce Kings, I have seen how much this team values its connection to the city of Prince George and its fans. I am excited to engage with the fans and bring them closer to the Spruce Kings than ever before.”

Ready replaces Cole Waldie, who left the Spruce Kings this summer to join the Prince George Cougars.

The Kings open their training camp on Friday at the Prince George Coliseum.
