The Prince George Spruce Kings have named Linden Makow as their new captain.
Makow, a local forward, becomes the 23rd player to wear the captain's “C” since the team joined the BCHL in 1996.
“I am incredibly honoured and grateful to have been named captain of the Prince George Spruce Kings,” Makow said in a press release. “It’s a true privilege to lead such a great group of guys and represent this amazing organization. I want to thank the coaching staff, management, and my teammates for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. Without their support and guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am lucky to have such a great group of guys with me who will make my job as captain easier every day. Together, we will continue to work hard, push each other, and strive for success on and off the ice. Go Kings!”
Head coach Alex Evin expressed his pride in the decision: “We are proud to officially add the captaincy to Linden Makow's jersey. We look forward to his continued leadership on the ice, in the locker room, and in our community.”
Makow, from Vanderhoof, is entering his fifth year with the Spruce Kings. He started with the team during the 2020-21 pod season and has since posted consecutive 16-goal seasons. In 143 BCHL regular-season games, he has recorded 35 goals and 35 assists.
“Linden has been with our program for five seasons. He’s a tremendous young man who understands the team expectations. I know he will embrace the opportunity to be our captain," said general manager Mike Hawes.
