This weekend at Kin 1 the Blizzard club is hosting BC Cup short track races - a prelude to the 2024 BC Winter Games in Quesnel in Februrary.

Short track speed skaters from all over the province will converge on the Olympic-sized rink at Kin 1 this weekend to find out who is the fastest of the fast.

The Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club is hosting Speed Skating BC’s Academy today. The team-building/training event  for athletes, coaches and officials will be followed on Saturday by BC Cup races that start at 10 a.m.

Spectators should come and check out some of the local Blizzard club skaters, including Megan Vansickle, Eli Bernard, and Pareesa Jones, as they race with the best of B.C.

The event will also showcase the younger Blizzard skaters as they race on their home track.

Racing resumes Sunday morning.

The event will serve as a warmup for the Lhato Quesnel BC Winter Games, Feb. 22-25, and the BC short track provincial championships in Abbotsford, March 8-10.
