Carolina Hiller of Prince George was the top Canadian in the ISU World Cup long track speed skating women’s 500-metre event Saturday in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland.
Hiller, 26, clocked 38.70 seconds in her second race, after posting the 13th-quickest seeding time Friday (38.70).
Erin Jackson of the United States set the pace, winning gold in 37.80, a quarter-second off the track record she established in 2021.
Korea’s Min-Sun Kim owns the world record in the 500 (37.82) set in 2013.
Up next for Hiller is the 1,000 m race on Sunday.
This season she has 186 World Cup points and ranks 16th overall in the world standings.
She’s coming off a bronze-medal win last weekend in the women’s sprint event in Beijing, China.
