Prince George girls B.C. volleyball champs

The Prince George Youth Volleyball Club’s U15 Kodiak Girls Red are provincial champions.

The Prince George Youth Volleyball Club’s U15 Kodiak Girls Red won the B.C. Provincial Championships in Abbotsford over the weekend.

The girls defeated the Apex team out of Vancouver in the quarterfinals, upset the top-rated Ducks team out of Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Burnaby) in the semifinals and then topped the number-two ranked Rain City team (Cloverdale, Mission) in the finals.

Delaney Turner of the Kodiaks was named the tournament’s most valuable player and her teammates Tyler Dahl and Olivia Young were named all-stars.

The rest of the team includes Emma Young, Natalie Bond, Nadia Lennox, Eva Allen, Maggie Glover, Emily Clarke, Brooklyn Hoy, Sydney Davis, and Avery Johansen.

The Kodiaks are coached by Mark Lafleur, Jon Glover, and Carly Connor.

Next action for the girls is the Emerald City Classic from May 26-29 at the University of Washington in Seattle.
