Prince George Cougars win third straight in Spokane

Young makes 41 saves in 5-3 victory over Chiefs Saturday night

The Prince George Cougars extended their win streak to three with a 5-3 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday night at the Spokane Arena.

Ty Young was fantastic in the opening period, making 17 saves to keep the game scoreless after 20 minutes. In the second period, the Cougars got the scoring started from Noah Boyko just under four minutes in.

Later in the frame, Chase Wheatcroft scored to get the Cougars ahead by a pair, but Spokane was able to get one back shortly after from Carter Streek.

A few moments later, Riley Heidt was awarded a penalty shot and was able to execute to put the Cougars ahead by a pair after 40 minutes.

In the third, Cade Hayes of the Chiefs found the back of the net 52 seconds in to make it a one goal game once again.

The Cougars were able to restore the lead on a Chase Wheatcroft power-play marker. The Chiefs again fired back courtesy of Tommaso De Luca to make it 4- 3.

In the latter half of the third, Koehn Ziemmer scored a weird one from a bad angle to make it 5-3, which ultimately ended up being the final score.

The Cougars improve to 3-1 on the five-game road trip, and currently sit atop of the B.C division.
