Polars winless, Cedars advances to semifinal

Nobody said it was going to be easy for the Prince George Polars.

That was indeed the case on Thursday when PGSS took the floor at the triple-A girls provincial in North Vancouver against the W.J. Mouat Hawks of Abbotsford.

The Polars hung in there for one quarter, down by just four points, but wilted from the pressure in the second quarter of a bigger, more aggressive Hawk attack and lost 83-32 to fall to 0-2 in the 16-team tournament.

Meanwhile, at the single-A girls provincial championship in Fernie, the Cedars Christian Eagles improved to 2-0 and advanced to the semifinal round after a 54-40 win Thursday over Bulkley Valley Christian of Smithers.
