Polars master their domain

The PGSS Polars froze out their competition on the weekend when they won their own Polar Classic. The senior boys squad defeated North Peace Secondary 100-88 in Saturday's final. They advanced after beating cross-town rival D.P.

The PGSS Polars froze out their competition on the weekend when they won their own Polar Classic.

The senior boys squad defeated North Peace Secondary 100-88 in Saturday's final.

They advanced after beating cross-town rival D.P. Todd 95-66 in the semifinal .

The Polars suffered an 82-66 loss to Duchess Park to open the eight-team tournament, but rebounded by edging top seeded Nechako Valley 96-94.

D.P. Todd won the bronze medal.

In the Prince George Senior High Basketball League, the Polars are 3-1 and have a bye tonight.

In other league action, D.P. Todd is at Kelly Road (boys, 6:15 p.m., girls 8 p.m.) and Duchess Park visits College Heights (boys, 6:15 p.m., girls 8 p.m.).

The Cedars Christian Eagles visit PGSS at 6:15 p.m. in senior girls play.

The City semifinals are Jan. 28, while the finals are on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Duchess Park.
