The Prince George Polars did not expect to win the quad-A boys basketball provincial championship in Langley.
However, after three losses in three games they will have a chance to end their tournament on a winning note. The Polars lost Friday 84-53 to the Pitt Meadows Marauders and that means the best PGSS can finish is 15th out of 16 teams.
That will be settled in the 15th-place playoff game starting today at noon when the Polars take on the Mount Baker Wild of Cranbrook, 122-39 losers Friday to Queen Charlotte.
In semifinal action later Friday, Tamanawis of Surrey faces Sir Winston Churchill of Vancouver, followed by the Holy Cross (Surrey) -Sardis (Chilliwack) matchup.
The championship final is set for 8 p.m. Saturday
