Polars end season with win over Cranbrook

The PGSS Polars ended their season with a 77-63 win over Mt. Baker from Cranbrook at the B.C. High School quad-A senior boys basketball championship in Langley.

The PGSS Polars ended their season with a 77-63 win over Mt. Baker from Cranbrook at the B.C. High School quad-A senior boys basketball championship in Langley.

With the win, the Polars finished 15th out 16 teams that competed at the four-day tournament.

PGSS went into provincials as the 15th-ranked seed. The Polars suffered losses to No. 2 seed Gleneagle (87-34) of Coquitlam; No. 10 seed Kelowna (101-39) and No. 14 seed Pitt Meadows (84-53) before defeating No. 16-ranked Mt. Baker Saturday afternoon.

Vancouver's Sir Winston Churchill secondary edged Holy Cross from Surrey 67-64 to win the championship title. Tamanawis from Surrey won bronze with a 70-56 victory over Sardis secondary from Chilliwack.
