Pisces swimmers power their way to summer provincials

Fourteen members of the Prince George Pisces have earned the right to compete in the B.C. Summer Swim Association provincial championships, Aug. 20-22 in Kamloops.

Fourteen members of the Prince George Pisces have earned the right to compete in the B.C. Summer Swim Association provincial championships, Aug. 20-22 in Kamloops.

At a regional qualifying meet, held in Dawson Creek on the weekend, Zavery Dodd, Matthew Shand, Ben Shand, Julie Wing, Jonah Gilbert, Ariel Gilbert, Brendan Bellavance, Deidre Suhr, Kyra Arrowsmith, Adrian Lamb, Gareth Lamb, Trevor Lamb, Heather Lamb and Jacey Wolfe all met the requirements for provincial participation.

In total, Pisces swimmers brought home 19 gold medals, 14 silver medals and eight bronze medals.

Individually, Ben Shand and Wing led with medal charge with four golds apiece. Wolfe netted three golds, while Suhr and Matthew Shand picked up two each. Other gold medalists were Bellavance, Ariel Gilbert, Heather Lamb and Adrian Lamb.

Silver swims were produced by Arrowsmith, Bellavance, David Barrett, Emily Fuller, Isabel Fuller, Dave Fuller, Jonah Gilbert, Heather Lamb, Adrian Lamb, Suhr, Matthew Shand and Wolfe.

Bronze medals, meanwhile, went to Isabel Fuller, Ariel Gilbert, Jonah Gilbert and Gareth Lamb.
