The Prince George Kodiaks will go for gold at the Les Sinnott Memorial Boys provincial cup Sunday at Rotary Fields.

The under-14 Kodiaks round out their round-robin play with a 3-0 win over the South Burnaby Metro Strikers in a game that determined which team would play for the championship. Prince George finished the pool portion of the tournament with a 1-1-1 record.

The Kodiaks will face the CCB Galaxy (Surrey) for the gold medal. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m., but could be moved to an earlier time (8 or 10 a.m. or noon) to accommodate the travel schedules of Island teams who need to catch ferries.

In the under-18 division, the Kodiaks tier 1 (A) team suffered a heartbreaking loss 4-2 on penalty kicks to Coastal United FC and were relegated to the bronze-medal game. Coastal United will play Bulkley Valley Rapids (Smithers) for gold.

Both the Kodiaks and Coastal United finished the round robin tied with 2-1 records and tied in the goals for and goals against categories after Coastal United beat Prince George 3-1 on Saturday. During the penalty kicks two of the Kodiaks shooters set the ball flying over the net.

The Kodiaks will face either ICSF United or Pinnacles FC (Penticton) for bronze, tentatively scheduled for noon Sunday.
